Tiwatope Savage, is a an Afrobeats and R&B Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. Born on 5th day of February 1980 in Isale Eko, Lagos State, Nigeria. She relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education and 5years later, she began her music career doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J. Blige.

Following her participation in the UK Edition of The X Factor and graduating from Berklee College of Music, Tiwa Savage signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009, she saw how rapid the Nigerian music industry is growing and was inspired.

Tiwa Savage moved back to Nigeria and signed a record with Mavin Records in 2012. She made an appearance on the label’s 2012 compilation album Solar Plexus and everything began falling in places for her musical career.

Tiwa Savage’s debut studio album “Once Upon a Time” was released on 3rd day of July 2013. It was supported by several singles: “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and “Eminado” and the list goes on and on. The album was nominated for Best Album of the Year at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and for Best R&B/Pop Album at The Headies the same year.

Tiwa Savage’s sophomore studio album R.E.D was released on 19th day of December 2015, it came out with two singles: “My Darlin” and “Standing Ovation” and in June the following year (2016), Tiwa Savage signed a management and publishing deal with Jayz Roc Nation, In September 2017, she released her debut EP “Sugarcane”.

In November 2018, Tiwa Savage won the Best African Act at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards, becoming the first woman to win the category… also, in May 2019, she announced her record deal with Universal Music Group and and exit from Mavin Records secretly.

Tiwa Savage’s contributions to the Nigerian music industry have earned her many achievements. She has been involved in youth empowerment and breast cancer screening projects and has raised funds to build schools in her home country (Nigeria).

Tiwa Savage was married to Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun, On 23rd day of November 2013, the couple perform their traditional marriage right at The Ark in Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria and the white wedding was held on 26th April 2014 at the Armani Hotel in Dubai, on 1st day of January 2015, Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz announced they were expecting their first child together and after 6months Tiwa Savage gave birth to their son, Jamin.

In April 2016, Tee Billz accused his wife of infidelity and his mother-in-law of witchcraft but in an interview conducted by This Day Newspaper and Pulse Nigeria, Tiwa Savage extensively addressed the issues surrounding their marriage and denied her husband’s infidelity claims and accused him of financial recklessness, drug addiction and her marriage to him was over.
